The Featured Bus for September/October 2014 is Bus 410 – a MAN SL200
Bus 410 was the first of 151 MAN SL200 buses in the ACTION Fleet, and the first bus in Australia to be built to the German VÖV Design.
It was imported from MAN Munich in framed condition. Skin, floor and internal fixtures were fitted by Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation, Port Melbourne. Seats were supplied by MAN Munich.
It was first registered on 14 July 1975. While the exact date of its withdrawal from revenue services is unknown (but believed to be around 1991), it was retained by ACTION as part of its Heritage Fleet.
It was later sold by ACTION, and operated for Downunder Bus Charter in Joondanna, Western Australia. It then operated for Horizons West, carrying fleet number 31, who advertised it for sale in May 2010. It is believed to have since been scrapped for parts.
