The CISAC stop is for the uni I am guessing, that gets rather busy, it also services the emu bank area

Bus 400

But at the moment the only way to the uni is via scrubland.

Yesterday I saw desto "GARRAN 03" this was one of the old Renaults & coming fro NMA & into City Interchange.

Also on Monday I was on a 66 from Woden that had "BONYTHON" up for the desto. So it looks like we have a bit of variation going on here.

They ought to make the UC/CISAC stop down there at layover, and bugger off the two stops on College St, which would then only leave the Radford Stop on College St, speeding up the Interttown somewhat IMO. It's not far to walk for the poor students.

Old Renaults? They're all old. Blind Flipdot desto?

Bonython 66, yes, it is a ligitiment desto, as there is a service that ends in Bonython.

Spotted a new Deanes bus doing a 048 school run from Canberra Boys Grammar. It had rego 1700 MO & was a newer version of the high up buses & had a the Deanes lines that are normally straight in a sideways Y. Was unable to get a pic as I was driving in a school area with little kiddies.

Irisbus Rider

Might be their new P&D bus, which features their new front.

Snorzac

That had 048 school bus on the desto when we saw it at the depot.

Bus 400

Someone from ATDB has also spotted this bus at the Depot (but on Monday).http://www.busaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=39487

Bus 400

Apparently today various groups were at the Legislative Assembly discussing public transport at the airport. I wonder if Deanes are wanting to pull out & want ACTION to take it back?

Busnerd

look, its the new tall bus with those lines in a Y

Note: Attachment has expired.

An accident around Barry Dr / Belconnen Wy / Fairfax St blocked citybound traffic around 3.30ish this afternoon. They had announcements in the interchange saying that services were running between 10-20 minutes late as a result.

Overheard the driver on my bus saying that he had diverted down Dryandra St, and most other drivers were diverting via Northbourne.

Bus 400

On 104.7 east bound services where being diverted via Fairfax St/Macarthur Avenue/ (then I guess some would come back via 3 to Barry Dr unless there was a notice at the stops on Barry Dr & Marcus Clarke St).

On my walk around Tuggeranong Depot today it look as if 906 was having quite a lot of work being done internally, with a large panel sitting in that bay just in front of the driver panel & quite a few empty boxes strewn along the front step. It still had its digital desto connect with 265 Woden on.

The "Centrelink Tuggeranong" "Terminus" has been closed & the 705 now starts/ends at the first stop in Soward Way.

Also as many know the Renault, Scania & Dennis busses do go a bit slow up Hindmarsh Dr hill. ut today I saw Bus 389 (MAN) cruising up the hill at around 70-85k's. That is compared to the 50-65 the others usually do. I have also noticed that the MAN actually run quite smooth at anytime.

Snorzac

906 is a Belco bus, driver seat replacement maybe.

Irisbus Rider

310Hp! Expect nothing other than power with those MANs.

Buzz Killington

anyone else see 'Priscilla' (Aka Pete) at the end of WIN News tonight? They had a story on his bus (the purple Merc)

Bus 400

I saw it in the City this morning outside Legislative Assembly. There were 2 blokes in "weird" clothes standing around it.

Snorzac

I heard something on the radio about him and his bus, has anyone seen the desto on that, it says, "how a bout a 69"

lukeo25

i've seen round town a few times

Bus 400

If anyone is out near Belconnen Interchange, at the CISAC end up at the Chandler St entrance someone has decorated the entrance with a bicycle hanging off somewhere there. This must be northsides version of the trolleys on bus shelters that we do down in Tuggers Valley.

Bus 400

I keep on forgetting to mention it, but something needs to be done at City West Terminus. As with Network '08 they painted over the old numbers from the boards, but have not yet replaced these with the new numbers. It is the same case at Electricity House, but it atleast has a totem stop.

Bus 400

AIS Precinct will be busy on Friday night with Brumbies & Canberra Capitals playing next to each other. ACTION have busses for the Brumbies, but are suggesting for Capitals fans to catch the Intertown & get off on Haydon Dr or College St & walk (10 minutes) or catch the 7 or 3. But say your only option home is to catch the Intertown from Haydon Dr or College St.

Not sure if they'll finish around the same time, but if it was me I'd walk around the other side of Canberra Stadium & catch the Brumbies Busses home.

Buzz Killington

wait.... people GO to the capitals games?

Bus 400

Tuggeranong Depot must of been tight on busses as when I caught the 67 from Woden, Bus 389 was on a 315 to Tuggeranong. When I arrived at Tuggeranong 40 minutes later. Bus 389 was waiting to go out on a 67 with a different driver.

Not necesssarily, Sare Lee, Sara Lee.....

It is a good bus, and the drivers would prefer 389 over, say, a Renault. So, the bus would naturally be sought after.

Bus 400

It must of been a quick turn around as aren't they refilled when they return to the depot & aren't their checks to do beforehand?

I also noticed some shifts haven't changed since November 2008. With the shift with 15:09 62 to Woden was issued at 5th November 2008.

The Tuggeranong Interchange Supervisor had a word to a driver this afternoon who parked at "Platform 2" while he dashed to the toilet & was then going to do a 60 at Platform 3. Also there were no busses behind him & in my mind it is safer to park at "Platform 2" for a short period.

Busnerd

Um, platform 2 is for vehicles laying over...what has the driver done wrong?

They are re-filled when they need to be not every time they are in the depot

Apparently they can't park there, it is for set down only. It was the bitchy Supervisor who was complaining.

But I remember being told at the Depot Open day that they are always refueled each time as they don't know how long it will be out for without being refueled. For example 389 could of ended up at Belconnen Interchange & have something go wrong at 23:00 & then be towed back to Belconnen Depot & spend overnight there & it may get back to Tuggeranong Depot the next day or it may sit at Belconnen for a few days or it may get fixed first thing in the morning & then be needed for a 315 to Tuggeranong. But it may then run out of fuel on Athllon Dr, Greenway.

Also as a RFS Volunteer I always been taught to always refuel my car as I may get stuck out in the bush & have to take the long way through the mountains.

Snorzac

That is a waste of time, if a bus needs fuel then it goes into the fuel lane and is fueled by a cleaner fueler. If it doesn't need fuel it is parked. If a bus broke down late at night it would be fixed on the spot like any other bus by the mechanics in the breakdown van, it would not be towed, and if it was a fault that couldn't be fixed on the spot it would then be towed back to it's base depot where it would be fixed.

The Love Guru

ACTION policy is that all buses are parked on the fuel lane when returned to the depot, with the exception if you are keeping the bus for the rest of the shift. It is the drivers responsibilty to ensure there is sufficient fuel in the bus to complete his/her shift. If in doubt, a trip to the bowser is required.

Barry Drive

Except for artics which don't get parked in the fuel lanes. But in the case of CNG buses (such as 389), they must always be fully fuelled before leaving the depot on a new shift.

If a CNG bus runs out of fuel it cannot be topped-up by the breakdown truck - the only option is to tow it to Tuggeranong Depot. Which is why it is vital that CNG buses are re-fuelled after every shift.

smitho

I've had 389 for the second half of my shift yesterday afternoon and also the day before....good bus.

Bus 400

Smitho, could you of been one of the drivers that I spotted in this bus then?

Bus 400

On my exploration today I spotted a posible new bus gunzel with this young gentlemen being shown different aspects of a Scania. Including the ramp & bike rack.

Yes, I was probably one of those drivers - I had the bus most of the afternoon.

Bus 400

The first driver finished before 15:00 & the other driver started after 15:00 & it looked as it the second driver also had 389 on the same shift yesterday.

Yes, I had 389 again yesterday from around 1445 to 1930; its not a shift bus for me - just lucky that I have come on about the time the other driver is finished with it..... most times I get Scanias.

Bus 400

Well I also am thankful that you picked up 389 for when I took your 16:02 62 from Woden as MAN are the best. But I reckon I could be a better bus driver though.

Only joking.

LOL, another one of THOSE passengers! You'd have to get in line behind all the public servants and pensioner/gold card holders, they are by far the best "bus drivers", you ask them, they'll tell you all about it!

Bus 400

Old people are useless at driving-they are only the bus because they were too old to drive & public servants just think that if you drive a certain way you can save x amount to go back to the public. Me I just love the drivers that race lights, take corners at good speed & push their way out of a bus stop. Which is what I plan to do after about 5-10 years of driving.

Snorzac

DBL 133 the little Volvo Express has had a new front put on it and it has a customs badge on it.

Yep, I reckon the MANs are pretty good too. Introduce yourself TP3000 next time you're Going my Way. Hmmm, a better bus driver eh?

Bus 400

But I forgot what you look like. Were you wearing a cap yesterday? Is it your regular shift?

I'm that forgettable am I?!!!! But then I guess all ACTION drivers look similar after a while, just some are fuller built than others.
Yes, I nearly always wear a cap - that down 62 @ 1602 is part of my regular school term shift.

Bus 400

Cool. There not all forgettable. I still remember some drivers when I see them & what they are like. I still remember a young female driver from Belconnen who did a 39 to Watson at around 13:00 & then a 36 to AGSO at about 15:00 & that was back in 2006. But I have seen her since.

I also remeber the driver when I took the 15:53 62 to Tuggeranong or 15:51 22 to Southlands. They both had same driver & same bus (both Scania). Also in 2007 the driver that took me to Tuggeranong in the morning (Dennis Dart) (08:00) was the same driver for the 162 from Woden (Artic) (17:00)

It's been like that for a few months

Bus 400

This morning artics that were 1/4 full were being used for the Arboretum Shuttles

Irisbus Rider

Customs badge? It was a Customs rebody? I was led to believe it was a P&D front, but I will say, it looked a lot like a SB400 front.....
