I've noticed Deanes are selling a Mercedes 0305. I think that maybe it could be an ex ACTION. Heres the link to it.

Buzz Killington

Yep, that'd be ex-606.

Thanks for the tip!

Busnerd

Would be funny if Deane's started buying renaults wouldnt it!

maybe the MAN dream might not be so out of reach - I have seen this ad a few times and I was checking out the disposalwiki and seems the last of the CAC bodied SL200's ended up in Cairns with a few others I suspect. Anyways not sure how current this ad is, but the SL200 entry seems to imply there are mutliple and LOOK AT THAT PRICE! It's at least worth someone doing some "legwork" and checking it out

yes it's Cairns, but it's not Perth ;) indeed it might be a better trip back hehehe

They were customer specs (i.e brisbane city council and adelaide mtt) the melbourne ones are "interesting" also

ex something-http://www.truckhub.com.au/DesktopDefault.aspx?ItemID=3238203&TabID=3443

based on the build date it's one of the low 500 series MANs. Somewhere between about 504 and 522. The ad does list the VIN but unfortunately it's one we don't have on file.

The transmission is listed as a ZF - that narrows it down further as 516 onwards were Renk 3-speeds.

Hmm, not sure what the technical term is but from looking at a few photos I can't see any of the B58's (aside from 251, but it's not that) had that section of ridged metal stripping that's under the window line all around the exterior.. unless that was fitted after leaving ACTION.

In any case, I've consulted the old BA Disposals list and it is listed as being ex-action but the fleet number unknown.

Simes

Certainly is - ended up with Hoppies, possibly via South Trans, I'd need to look it up

Ex ACTION?
Yes. The CAC bodied artics (533 - 551) were new in 1979 and had the hopper windows. The desto box and the aerial bracket match; 534-542 had Voith transmissions, but the engine was rated at 230 HP. Take a look at this photo from RATEC to compare the rear - fitted a new rear window, school lights and an extra reversing light, but otherwise is the same.

538, 541 & 544 all were in Bunbury, so it could be one of them. (538 reportedly had a blown engine & 544's transmission was originally a Renk, so 541 is most likely.)

The Renaults at Veolia are scheduled for withdrawal and sale in the not too distant future (along with the Csepels)

I also checked my link with the "Loves" of Cairns, they have 3 SL200's at $500 each

Snorzac

$500 would be a wise investment, buy them and them call Sims Metal, you would make money out of that!

Given the vehicles are in Cairns and there are 3 scrap metal merchants up there within driving or dragging distance - they could easily do that themselves (and get more than $500 each that's for sure) - I thought there was a desire to save one of these, interiors can be quite hard to find for a vehicle whose type was withdrawn from their primary operator over 15 years ago and the ones in private service have been slowly disappearing from the ranks....

King of Buses

The Deanes 'for sale' list now has it listed that 3 ex ACTION Mercedes O305 buses are for sale.

Possibly ex-432, 500 or 502

It isn't 500.
Ex 500 works for some other place . There is a picture of it in the current Australian Bus magazine.

Yes $6k for all 3 sounds quite reasonable to me :P

If so, that was bloody quick - it was only withdrawn on Friday!

The ad says it was in service until 28 September - 836 was the only bus withdrawn on that day. I'd say 837 was still in service between the 28th and the 7th.

The item description says it was in service until 28-09-2011. So could it even be Bus 835?

I can't check my records right at this moment, but Bus 835 was withdrawn mid week recently.

EDIT-Found out it is Bus 836.

Barry Drive

837 still at Depot. I avoided 836 as much as I could - certainly would not consider buying it.

Busnerd

So now we know why they couldn't sell us certain buses? Obviously some drivers have some profit in mind and are buying them to re-sell online. The usual money making scams no doubt.

Buzz Killington

The Fleetwiki has 792 listed as having gone to Adams in Perth, but that must have been an error.

We might have to put a list together of the recent withdrawals to see what's where. I'll set that up.

Ex bus #527 CAC bodied SL200
Now on the Gold Coast
Apparently does 100, so it's a days drive, maybe a little more (might be better to spread over 2 days rather than rushing)

Bus 811 recently sold for $5000 (http://www.omnibus.com.au/x12125.html). I forget who the operator livery is, but the bus didn't last long.

Buzz Killington

Good ol' 811.

That's the Busabout livery isn't it?

For a cool $58K, you could buy an ex-ACTION* MAN Motorhome. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/M-A-N-Bus-Motorhome-/151022007929?pt=AU_Caravans_RVs&hash=item23299cf679

(* - not entirely sure that it is ex-ACTION given the amount of modifications done to it)

Barry Drive

Three ex-ACTION O305s are being offered for sale by CDC/Deanes for $2000 each http://www.omnibus.com.au/recent.html
Will work out which ones they are later.

The Love Guru

All of them are only good for sims. Lots of parts missing and generally in poor condition. Would have been a great parts bus for that price, especially if one could be found with a half decent motor and box in it
