Media reports in late 2009 stated that fuel trains into Canberra would cease this month. A Countrylink chap at the Canberra Station said he understood the last trains would run this week. I

n the past they used to run every weekday but they are now down to 2 per week. If this week's trains run to normal schedules, this would see the last freight train  depart the ACT on Thursday or Friday this week.

Lately they've been hauled by two ex-VR X class locomotives; one in lue and yellow Pacific National livery, the other in green and yellow/gold Freight Australia livery.

Speaking to a Pac Nat crew the other day, last run will be Australia day. Either a day before, day after or right on the day (They generally don't run on a public holiday). They were unsure if a train would run this week due to full tanks at Shell.

Usually it is X52 and 8050, the other day it was X50 and 48. X 52 is the usual X. Pac Nat liveried X is X50.

I have a thread on here, aswell as other photos at http://www.flickr.com/photos/kommissar_todd06/sets/72157622277677651/

Was out the other night from Goulburn to Canberra, and then saw it return from Canberra to Goulburn.

The last Canberra Oil has been confirmed as being tonight. Speaking to some in Pac Nat they were unsure if it was this week or next week, but it is confirmed as tonight.
