Sir Pompously

I travelled with my folks up to Sydney for the Australia Day celebrations. We first went to Milsons Point, where we watched the Ferrython which incorporates four Sydney Ferries vessels which compete for the top spot. The ferry class used is the first fleet class, which all are named after ships of the First Fleet. This year, Charlotte was the overall winner with the other competitors being Scarborough, Friendship and Borrowdale. We then moved over by CityRail to Circular Quay and The Rocks, where many bands along a buskers trail were playing. People moved to The Rocks for the afternoon events, which included a flyover by an RAAF F/A 18 Hornet, and a RAAF Roulette display. Circular Quay was packed, and all Sydney Ferries services were packed no matter where they were going. The Harbour was jam packed with boats, many times smaller vessels were getting in the way of the larger Manly Ferries which is not a good thing, as they will plow into you if you don't get out of their way. Vintage Buses were also moving around from the City to Circular Quay, which incorporated buses from London and Sydney itself from many different eras. Overall it was a good day, people were getting into the spirit of the day by chilling out at the band stages, or just having a drink at the local. Anyway, here is my photoset showing what went on around Sydney Harbour this Australia Day.

Some Examples -

The Tall Ships pass near the P&O Superliner Pacific Dawn

The Ferrython is well underway. The racing vessels are the ones with the red, blue or black adverts and are provided by Sydney Ferries Corporation, a Government run service

The RAAF Roulettes strut their stuf in the skies over the harbour

Spectators line the walls of Sydney Harbour at Milsons Point waiting for the ferries to arrive on the Ferrython

Apparently theres some big hubub over at ATDB about mangina's bus and she/he/it making claims she/he/it is the only "female" bus enthusiast and saying it did 7 trips when it didnt and annoying everyone else or something.

Busnerd

i've seen him/her/it once in person before and someone pulled me to the side and was like "that girl..used to be a guy" and i replied "eeew"
