Bus 506 is a Scania K360UA 6×2/2 articulated bus which was delivered on 13 July 2012 and entered service at Belconnen Depot on 3 September 2012.
This was the first ACTION bus to feature a Custom CB80 body and was the first wheelchair-accessible and air conditioned articulated bus in the fleet.
Sneak peeks of the bus, which ACTION named “Big Bendy”, were posted on twitter in the month leading up to delivery, with several shots showing the bus having its body fitted. It was launched to the media on 1 August 2012 by Chief Minister Katy Gallagher.
506 was the first delivery of an order of 20 Scania K360UA articulated buses. This order was extended by 13 buses in order to fully replace the 33 Renault PR180.2 articulated buses – the last bus of this order (Bus 538) was delivered in October 2013.
