The Featured Bus for May 2011 is Bus 390 – a MAN A69 18.320
Bus 390 is an MAN A69 18.320 HOCL-NL/E5 with a Custom Coaches “CB60 Evo II” body.
Arriving at ACTION in August 2009, it was the first bus of an order of 74 MAN diesel buses to be delivered between August 2009 and June 2011.
It was the world’s first MAN bus which meets the Euro V emission standards and featured decals which promoted this.
Bus 390 entered service on 15 September 2009 after being the subject of a Media Launch in Civic Square on the same day. It saw limited service until 16 November 2009 when, together with buses 391 – 401, it was used to operate the new Redex service (Route 727) between Gungahlin Town Centre and the Canberra Railway Station.
The bus was originally fitted with a Hanover on-board information screen which was used to display route information, static messages and promotional videos. This screen was later replaced by the Passenger Information Display included with the NXTBUS (Trapeze) real time system.
