Bus 261 was a Leyland National 10951/2R bus with body by Leyland National Company Ltd (Workington, England).
It commenced with Canberra Bus Service in 1974 and was withdrawn from service in 1990.
ACTION had a fleet of 70 Leyland Nationals, the first 16 of which (256 – 271) were imported from England with a complete body. Subsequent buses (272 – 325) were assembled by Leyland Australia from kits supplied by the parent company in England.
Buses 261 and 262 were the first ACTION buses with all-over-advertising. 261 featured a hand-painted advertisement for Civic Permanent Building Society which debuted on 1 November 1977.
