The Featured Bus for June 2012 is ZIB-240 – a Thornycroft Trident PG/CR6/1
Bus 240 was a Thornycroft Trident PG/CR6/1 (with Syd Wood body) that operated for the Canberra Bus Service between 1974 and 1976.
New in 1962 to J J King, Kempsey, it was acquired at at the time of the 1974 vehicle shortage from J Bowden of Sydney, after Bowden ceased operating Sydney Route 79, along with nine other buses to help overcome the shortage.
240 was the sole Thornycroft Trident in the ACTION Fleet, and notably was the last bus body built by Syd Wood.
For a time the bus was retained as part of ACTION’s Historic Fleet, but was later sold to Kings Bros of Kempsey.
