This topic has been split off from "ACT Bus Updates" to discuss important aspects of the Gallery, such as upgrades and faults.

The Gallery is now being rebuilt - this will take some time (weeks) so please be patient.

Just a tip for those who are after something specific in our Gallery - there's an 'All Tags' button at the top which will display every tag we've used in the gallery - these include route numbers, registration numbers, locations, advertising and other assorted comments. Clicking on any of the tags will display every photo that carries it (the number next to each tag indicates how many photos have that)

Here's the direct link to the page: http://actbus.net/gallery/index.php/all_tags

I'm currently (slowly) working to restore titles and tags to the Gallery - we had some issues with our database files for these recently. It may take some time unfortunately. Apologies for any inconvenience. You can obviously still find a photo of a particular bus by navigating to its fleet number album, but searching/navigating by tags won't be too helpful at present.

As our Gallery was running on some rather old software, I've had to update it. This has also allowed me to do some server-side updates, which should mean that the remainder of the site will run a bit smoother, and also allows me to start working on some new additions to the site - more on those later.

You may notice some slower speeds while browsing the Gallery in the short term, as it will need to regenerate all of the thumbnail images - this is done as the images are requested (i.e. as the relevant page is loaded for the first time). Links to the Gallery from the Wiki and website will be updated gradually over the next few weeks.

Please note: the new Gallery software will also disrupt images in the forum - I will update broken links as I find them.

We've reached a milestone today: 7000 images in the Gallery.

Thanks to all contributors past and present.

Now let's see how long it takes to reach 8000.

That's a lot of photos for one day.....

A few statistics from the Gallery (kindly supplied by the software) -

Bus 108 has the most photos, followed by Bus 990;
The album for Bus 443 is the most viewed album for a Bus (don't know why that is though);
Renault PR100.2 Mk1 is the most photographed bus model (903), followed by Mk2 (868);
City Interchange is the most photographed location;
The most photographed location, other than a depot/station/interchange is London Circuit;
The most photographed route is 333, followed by 313.

While trawling through the Gallery updating tags and titles, it's interesting to note that some buses get photographed more often than others. It's quite easy for some buses to go for years without having a photo added to the Gallery.

So in an effort to combat that, I issue the challenge that in 2017 every bus in service will be photographed and added to the Gallery. This might not be achievable, but let's see have close we can get.

To assist, the Photo of the Month bonus categories will include different bus types throughout the year.

We have 420 buses in 2017, here is the full list of what's still needed:

Progress report.

Gallery has now exceeded 7500 images. 231 buses have been photographed this year - which is more than half the fleet in six months.

Renault PR100.2 Mk2 has now overtaken Mk1 as the most photographed model (920 images).

In the top 50 tags listing, only one advertiser is listed. No prize for guessing it - Brindabella Christian College (78 tags).

Within the QCity album, new sub albums have been set-up for those buses with multiple images. (At this point - the 4 Volgren Optimus and one Irisbus Agora Line.)

Historical QCity /Deanes photos are also wanted. Post them in Multimedia or send me a PM.
