Bus 400

I am just wondering if anyone knows why ACTION haven't used number series 200-299? Also going by the ACT Bus website, they mostly started fleet numbers around 600 & went from there, what is the reason for this?

Snorzac

Who knows. ACTION had a 500 series if you look at the gallery. I believe there was a 200 series a  fair while back, I have no idea why they skipped that this time around.

Buzz Killington

They never started at 600's, 100-999 have all been used at some stage, with a few exceptions. The 737-749 gap for one, although i believe they left those for more artics which didnt eventuate. There is a list of what bus types had what fleet numbers on our site. Im boarding from my phone but i think it is called 'fleet history'. But back to the poinu, no idea why they stopped at fleet number 175 and skipped all the way up to 300.

A few more problems with this historical fleet list:

671, 672 and 673 were former demonstrator MAN SG192 (artics).

  • 671 by Goppel (Augsburg, Germany)
  • 672 bodied by Custom Coaches
  • 673 bodied by Commonwelth Aircraft Corporation-(CAC)

532 had the same body builder as 510. There is some uncertainty whether it should be shown as Goppel (Penzberg and Augsburg) or if the front body should be attributed to MAN (Penzberg) and the trailer body to Goppel (Augsburg). Or does no-one care too much? In any case 532 was an imported body, not CAC.

990-991 needs to no longer refer to "CNG".

Strictly speaking there is no such thing as a Renault PR100.3a, and since they have all had their wheelchair access removed, the main difference between the ".3a" and the ".3" are the doors.

Fleet numbers 100 - 173 should also be regarded as being reused. There were buses that used those numbers in the 1960's.

The AEC Swift range should be 229, 232-235. I don't know what (if anything) 230 and 231 were used for.

Buzz Killington

well, if i recall, we actually got that list from a post YOU made on ATDB martin :p

Again, I'll fix it later this week!

Bus 400

I suspect I may of found why number series 200-299 were missed with the Irisbus's. If you look on the radio screen various numbers in the 200 series will be displayed. Well I found out that the radio's at the Radio Room at Belconnen Depot & each Supervisor, are able to call each bus up by dialing the bus number into their special system. So having bus numbers in this series would of meant that the radio channels would of needed altering.

Barry Drive

While it's plausible, I don't think that's the reason since many buses already use a different radio number from their fleet number.
