If you were to renumber the weekend route 52, would you renumber it to route 952 ?

You would if you had a brain.

If you were ACTION you would number it route 956.

We cant have people catching 952 and expecting it to go where 52 does, that would be too easy.

They only changed that last week.

It was basically the same until then...

But now it goes through evatt instead of giralang/kaleen.

It is a fairly ridiculous move, considering the routes do go different ways, it's confusing, and not necessary. Again, it's the typical government thing, "Make it look like we're doing something, when we're really not, lets re-number the weekend routes!". It's pathetic.

it really is quite confusing. they should have at least made the numbering consistent when they launched network 08

What about those in Chifley that take the 23/24 Monday to Friday & the 921/922 on Saturday/Sunday?

You also have those in Ngunnawal who take the 52 M-F & 958 S-S.

Really if routes were altered in Network '08 M-F services, then the 900 vesion should of also changed.

No "idiot" was responsible for the weekend route numbers. They were the same numbers that were used on the weekends (and mostly during the week too)in the old network, just with a 9 added in front. The new routes with same numbers is where it got confusing, however as most people knew where the old bus routes went, it hasn't been that bigger deal.

Its impossible to make the number similar to the weekday ones, as almost all the routes are different. At least by numbering them all in the 900 series it is easy to tell that its a weekend service only.

All this will change in time, however when that will be is anyones guess. We have been waiting a year now!

I know for a fact that 952 is different than 52.

look at the route maps on actions website.

956 covers part of the 52 route.

Hence my exasperation, as you would expect that simply whacking a 9 on the route would indicate that the route was a weekend route of the week route.

Obviously, an idiot at work.

Snorzac

I totally disagree with you. The people who developed the route and timetables are idiots because routes like the 905 are too long and have issues with timing and the intertown is quicker on a weekend than on a week day when it doesn't go to Erindale.

However as other users have pointed out from an old network, it has not been changed except for adding a 9 on the front of some numbers that didn't already have it to avoid confusion.

Obviously NOT an idiot at work!!

One thing in the weekend networker maker was that for most routes, they have the same departure time as the M-F off peak equilivant (except Belco of course).

I believe he was referring to to the 900 series routes whose numbers do not match up to the weekday ones (913/914 example service the 318/319 area, there is no 52 but there is a 952 etc) rather than the routes that came about from adding a 9 to make them weekend routes (81 and 981, 300 and 900 etc)

One that hasn't been mentioned is the 39/939. On weekdays the 39 does an anti-clockwise loop around Watson. But on weekends the 939 does a clockwise loop around Watson. This one would of only required a minor change to the direction. Although the 39 should do a clockwise loop as there are more bunker shelters going this way.

Also the 39 goes up Northbounre Ave, but the 939 goes along Cowper St through Ainsile.

Which is why it's a different route number! If the weekend routes were identical to the weekday routes then there wouldn't be any need for weekend route numbers. (Of course there are some weekend routes which are the same as their weekday counterparts - 902, 925, 960, 962, 981, 982 - but these are a minority.)
