Sir Pompously

When passing express through some stations on a Gold Coast bound service, there was a large sign at a group of shops with the Foodtown Logo. Can't remember which station it was but I think it was between Coopers Plains and Loganlea. I was creaming my jeans :P

Busnerd

Yeah, Jannalli Flemings, home of the Mini Cokes.

My memory may be a bit frizzy, but I believe they were 300mL botles.

coke comes in so many different sizes these days...

there's:

- regular cans (375ml)
- those thin cans they sell at the servo (red bul size)
- those realy thin cans that come in multipack at big w and woolies
- 390ml
- 600ml
- 330ml glass bottles that come in 4packs
- those glass bottles you get at cafe's and food courts
- 1 litre
- 1.25l
- 1.5l
- 2l

its hard to keep up!

Snorzac

The thin cans are 300mL .
The "mini cokes" sold at the bakery are glass bottles.

Irisbus Rider

IIRC, there's also (or was) a 3L bottle of Coke.

Buzz Killington

there was, not anymore. was out around '02.

Busnerd

Not to mention

250ml cans - sold at Kmart

And Zac, you wouldn't sell 300ml PET cokes, as they aren't for retail sale, they are only available in multipacks and can't be resold.

There's also american 330ml coke.

There was the bried 440ml coke that coles was selling, the big cans

Sir Pompously

What about the 4**ml bottles that seem to only be found in Melbourne? Moonpig will know what I am talking about.

Big w have the 250 ml cans, in six packs as well... :)

Busnerd

yes but 250ml cans come in two types. The thin ones in 6 packs BIG W and woolies sell, and the small normal width 250ml cans Kmart sells and Qantas serves.

Busnerd

I had a look on the company that owns samboy's website and they said they will be back by march at the latest!

I am trying to find some Purity or Roelf Vos ad's (if they existed), but hard to track down!

I also found a Coles Ad with everyone's favourite, Lisa McCune!

Too bad this policy went out the window years ago.

After my long search, I finally found 50gm samboy, salt and vinegar, barbeque and atomic tomato samboys at campbells cash & carry.

Also found were new lines like red mars, blueberry extra, new dark exlipse - forget the proper name, i think its just a stronger spearmint/peppermint flavour.

I think thats all they had that was new.

bubzie

the eclipse mint's are chilli flavoured... :x

Buzz Killington

red mars, ey?

blackberry melon extra liquid blast too.

IMPORTANT SNACK-RELATED ANNOUNCEMENT

I have just been informed that.. Arnotts Salt and Vinegar French Fries, the delicious potato-based snack beloved by all, ARE BACK.

If anyone has spotted them in their local woolies/coles, let us know..

Buzz Killington

Got my S&V French Fries at Conder Woolies this arvo.

No, they're not. I bought a pack this arvo and they are similar in taste to wintergreen tic tacs (not sold in aus). They kinda taste like mouthwash to be honest.

I'm hearing that Dick Smith Power House will be rebranded as simply 'Dick Smith' in the near future.

The 'Tandy' brand will also disappear. Profitable stores will be rebranded as Dick Smith, non-viable stores will be closed.

Buzz Killington

Tuggeranong A-Mart is turning into a Rebel Sport, and the City store is likely to as well.

City A-Mart has had its outside signage removed, but no Rebel Signs are up as of last Friday.

Not sure about Tuggeranong

Edit: Just realised we won't get AMart ads on tv anymore!

Generally, that's what deli's have.

..salads and stuff.

Just putting that out there.

Bus 400

But it was a good deli with a nice selection of sweets. But now it is only peanut M&M's & peanuts are yuk.

It really annoys me that Belconnen doesn't have self-serve. They have 8 express (?) checkouts but whenever I go there only 2 are open.
Good news everyone, Woolworths Belconnen (1139) has replaced half of its express checkouts with self-serve checkouts.

Sir Pompously

Woolworths have released a toy truck, a Mercedes Benz Actros semi with new logos (Green and White Trailer). No price around, but all the other toys on the stand were $30. It is quite a large model.

Coke and associated drinks are no longer available in a 390mL bottle. Instead it is now sold as a 450mL 'Grip and Go' bottle.

Sir Pompously

They should bring back the 3L Family sized bottle (And while we are at it, Schweppes, bring back Dr Pepper!).

Buzz Killington

This was posted on MediaSpy earlier, thought it may interest some people here too..

Note: Attachment has expired.

Now thats one fugly store!

Was walking through Parramatta thisafternoon and saw one of those odd plastic trolleys I keep seeing everywhere, upon closer inspection it had WOOLWORTHS enscribed into the handle in a plastic moulding. This is the second one I have seen lying around the place but not in stores

Buzz Killington

Not a supermarket as such, but Kmart at Belconnen is now on 24 hour trading.

Freddie Frapples salad bar @ Cooleman Court sells Dr Pepper - fully imported Yank variety....not too expensive either.

Buzz Killington

It's becoming much easier to find these days, same with flavoured fanta.

Plenty more discussion on imported products in this thread: http://actbus.net/forum/index.php?topic=92.0
