Title: Photo of the Month - February 2017
Post by: Barry Drive on January 14, 2017, 10:59:49 AM
* Voting has commenced *

Time to start this again. We are now accepting nominations for the February 2017 photo of the month.

The rules:

The winning photo will be loaded to the actbus.net website and posted to ACT Bus on Facebook. The winner and runner(s)-up will also be included in the Photo of the Year vote. By submitting a photo, you are giving permission for it to be loaded onto the ACT Bus Gallery and Facebook page.

  • photo must be "owned" by the person submitting it (if not, you must have the permission of the photographer to submit the photo - and identify the photographer)
  • two* photographs may be submitted by any one person, provided they have not been submitted before

  • submitted photographs must prominently feature:
    • bus infrastructure (such as bus stop, bus station, bus depot) within the ACT / Queanbeyan region (location must be specified)
    and/or
    • a bus from the ACT or Queanbeyan (taken within the region or a former ACT/Queanbeyan bus) where -
      • the bus is in focus
      • the fleet or registration number of the bus is identifiable (or supplied by photographer if not visible in photograph)
  • preferred photo width is 800 pixels or more, but photos narrower than 640 pixels will not be accepted

If possible, please supply date or month of photo.

Refer here (http://actbus.net/gallery-submissions/) for full ACT Bus photo submission conditions.

Photos can be submitted four ways: (1) by posting to this forum topic (2) by posting on ACT Bus facebook page (and mentioning POTM) (3) by tweeting to @actbus or @actbusspotter (4) by contacting ACT Bus (submit a "contact us" form, send a message to our Facebook page or send me a Private Message) - and we'll send you an email address.

Unhosted photos may be uploaded into the ACT Bus Gallery which will apply a watermark. Requests to remove the watermark will not be considered.

*This month we are seeking photos of buses that feature something which is non-standard - more details below. By submitting a photo which matches this criterion, you may post up to three photos - but all three must not be of the same bus.

To ensure consistency, photos must be displayed with a width of 640 (or height if 640 if a "portrait" aspect) - photos wider than 640 are required to use the option width=640 or height=640 in the image tag. For example: [img width=640] instead of [img].

Submissions close midnight 28 January, Australian Eastern Daylight savings time, unless there are insufficient photos for a vote to take place, in which case nominations will be extended.

More details about the bonus category: the photo must feature a bus with something that is non-standard for that bus model, and the non-standard feature must be visible in the photo and  mentioned in the caption; however, the photo does not need to be a close-up of that feature.

Examples of non-standard features are: missing or odd fleet numbers, stickers or logos, mis-matched body panels, trial or evaluation parts (such as Saydair seats in 940 or the Hanover desto on 307).

What is not considered as non-standard: bike rack differences (DL2 vs VeloPorter2), flip-dot vs LED destos (other than 307), anything related to advertising (such as missing ad panels), missing badges from the front or rear of the bus (but rearranged badges are acceptable), unrepaired accident damage such as dents or broken panels.

Thought I was too late for an entry, but apparently not.

395 parked at Belco Workshop

This one was taken the first day I saw 622, back when I was up at Belconnen last.
and don't worry, I took this shot from the above car park at office works through the fence, I wasn't on the Depot grounds.

620 arriving at the City

I took this today, but I was originally using it as my perspective shot for my drawing, turned out to look quite good, imo.

611, 374 and 387 at Wodens set-down.

For my 'non-standard' entry, I chose 374, as its number sits above the black door panel, instead of on it. (if this is not good enough for the bonus category, you can delete it).

Given the large number of submissions, I have decided to close nominations early and open the voting. You can vote for up to 8 photos.

In another close vote "534 & 973" was the winning photograph.

Non-standard buses may return later in the year, but next round's bonus category will be Buses 894-940.
