Title: Rude passengers
Post by: Stan butler on December 26, 2017, 09:38:03 PM
You hear people complaining about bus drivers being rude, but I have also seen a lot of rude passengers - but no-one complains about them ( a driver may get sacked if they complained)

Many drivers are friendly and say hello to the passengers, but it irks me when some passengers don't even smile or acknowledge the driver. They just get on and off and ignore the drivers greetings. That is rude.   I've seen that a few times.

Then the people wearing their headphones while the driver is trying to tell them something.

Always the concession card people who dont show their card or the people trying to scam a free ride.

I do feel sorry for the drivers sometimes and I can understand why some get cranky.  The people they have to put up with would make me cranky too.

I couldn't agree more Stan, I think being a Driver must take the patience of a saint when I see how some of my fellow passengers conduct themselves. It costs nothing to say a "gday" or a 'thanks' to the Driver or to take a second to show him your card.  The vast majority of drivers get nothing but praise from me for the way they conduct themselves.

Just earlier today when I was taking a bus down to Tuggeranong (yutong on the 75) after having a lovely chat with the driver for probably a least a good three minutes after the bus had come to a stop over at platform one in Tuggeranong transit Centre (drop off only no layover) after I got off the bus with the bus still saying [75 Chisholm loop], a bunch of young kids started hollering and being all upset Probably not realising that the bus finished it's route and saying something like "let me on", yelling to the driver, and they actually did try booting the door (the front door) with their foot as the driver pulled off of platform one into the layover spot with [Not In Service] on the front display, poor driver I hope at least having that lovely chat with him made his day a little better before all that happened

The driver actually can put up the display 'Set down only' as well as 'Not in service' or just the Logo. Many seem to do it before arriving at the terminal bus station, and sometimes the stop before (eg Westfield Belconnen). This must be relatively easy to do. Where not done so, it is actually a regular problem, particularly on circular routes, where waiting passengers think the terminating bus is their bus.

Kinda the opposite, but I find it rude when the driver leaves all his stuff on the front seat, had one of those today. They have a cabin and cupboards for that reason and it's not 2019 anymore...

I have seen that on some buses, those cupboard Can open by themselves with a little pressure so I don't think that'll work all out well when the driver has his bag hit them on the head but I think they actually latch and lock, so it should probably not pop open by itself

It seems to be a covid carry over to exclude front seat passengers, some drivers having found the added privacy to their liking?
