Title: Dart Departures
Post by: Barry Drive on August 11, 2015, 04:52:32 PM
As has been noted on Facebook, Bus 132 has been withdrawn, repainted and possibly sold to a local operator.

Any sightings welcomed.

132 was this afternoon sighted at the Kingston Railway Station in a yard used by several operators, the only one of those operators that would really benefit from a low floor midi bus is Capital Sightseeing  (otherwise known as Explorer), so one can only assume it's been purchased by them.

MO375 (formerly BUS132) has been deregistered and is no longer situated at the railway yard.

146 is at Woden minus Fleet number, rego and rear bumper. No sign of any replacement coming out of storage though.

Has anyone seen 144 lately? ... Is 144 perhaps in for (a fair bit of) maintenance? Or is it just hiding from me?
Bus 144 has been withdrawn.

Meanwhile former Bus132 is listed for sale on eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1996-DENNIS-CRUSADER-28-SEAT-BUS-/291733823675?). Still no buyers.

A Dart, with no visible fleet number and perhaps no plates, and front end hoisted on the ACTION tow truck, passed West to East along Cohen St, Belconnen about 1.45pm today.

Latest reports are that only 148 and 150 remain in service.

However, it is likely that some Darts may return to service to operate the City Loop service.

A sighting of former BUS 154 was made yesterday at Murrumbateman, heading away from Canberra. Still in ACTION livery.

With the City Loop Six (135 145 147 148 150 & 151) withdrawn from service, there is the possibility that some of these will soon be sent to Pickles for sale.

So keep your eye on http://www.pickles.com.au

What determines whether a bus is sold or scrapped, other than obvious reasons such as having been stripped for parts?

So here I am sitting on a greyhound on the way back from Sydney (just south of Campbelltown, when something caught my eye. A dart passing in the other direction! Well not quite... it was a very sick looking dart (numbers had been removed) with a big flatbed in front of it about to be loaded. I feel so sorry for the new owners having major mechanical problems only 3 hours or so into ownership 😓. A cost that now has to be absorbed by presumably a small business who has worked hard to be able to afford the vehicle. The saga of the dart has merely been passed on now to some new business. Any idea what fleet number it would have been?

Quote from: Barry Drive on January 08, 2020, 10:15:51 AMFormer City Loop Darts 148 & 150 are being auctioned tomorrow by Pickles.

Listings: 148 (https://www.pickles.com.au/trucks/item/-/details/CP-10-97--Dennis--Crusader--Bus/402350892) and 150 (https://www.pickles.com.au/trucks/item/-/details/CP-10-97--Dennis--Crusader--28-Seat-Bus/402350893).

This may suggest they will send any other road-worthy ones for auction later.

Probably either of these.

It would have been cheaper and easier to have it towed to its new interstate home in the first place, rather than risking it breaking down!

One of the Darts that was recently sold, possibly the one that broke down in transit, is being offered for sale by a truck dealer in Tamworth (https://www.truckworld.com.au/used/buses/passenger-bus/scania/k124/nsw/1997/1246198/?query=).

You don't want to know how much it's listed for.

Update: based on the photos, I believe it's 148.
Update 2: URL updated; price may have been reduced

Two more Darts are now at Pickles Auctions in Fyshwick. No listing yet (that I can find).

They are likely to be 139 & 156

Update: 139 and 149 are listed at Pickles. Presumably 139 was not sold, but 156 was.

Quote from: Snorzac on November 25, 2020, 06:07:37 AMNot really the relevant thread but the remaining darts which were stored at Fyshwick have been coming to Belconnen for final decommissioning before getting disposed of either through Pickles Auctions or in most cases Access Recycling

Would it be too late to take/buy one of the old 'next stop' frames then? If anything from a dart, I would want one of those.

Maybe it's too late.

It does appear as though all Darts (but one) have been sold or scrapped. Whether the remaining Dart has the sign and whether they would part with it is unknown.
