I hope it takes off (pardon the pun) and is a profitable venture, as it would bring more tourists and the like to  the Canberra region & would make flying to Europe and Asia easier for people.

PRIME7 News reporting that Singapore made no mention of it and has no plans for any new routes in 2016 at the moment.

Snorzac

And they wouldnt because any announcement would be kept underwraps until the official announcement.

For some reason I assumed they'd use A330's (if they have them)

Snorzac

That was the assumption  (and the early media reports) given they service Brisbane and Adelaide exclusivly woth A330s.

They do and that was the early rumour, but they went the 777-200 instead because it has less seating capacity overall, but more in business.

Busnerd

Oh, didn't even read that it was 777-200's, I just saw 777 and assumed 300.

Singapore Airlines commenced their new "Capital Connect" service this morning with Boeing 777-200ER 9V-SRP operating the inaugural service, even with the horrid weather in Canberra this morning the aircraft was due to perform a flyover of the Canberra CBD however this had to be cancelled due to a passenger requiring medical assistance onboard.
