Starting tomorrow McDonalds will be offering special lunch packs (didn't read into that so not sure what they are) and waffle cones. I believe they are only on sale for a limited time from tomorrow until March 23.

Busnerd

someone posted a photo on facebook a few days ago, they are just small value meals for slightly reduced prices from like 12.30 - 2.30 or something

Snorzac

Some promos coming up:
Malteser Sunday (if I read correctly)
Another new Chicken Burger-didn't take much notice I was busy)

RiotACT are reporting that a development application has been lodged for a Maccas to be located opposite the servo at Nicholls.

Probably a good location - right on the highway as people get back into town..

Snorzac

It will be owned by the Sidaros group, which may otherwise be known as 'Hangside'.

My store owner, Hani, owns Emu Bank, Westfield Belconnen, Charny and Gunmac, with the intention of opening this one and taking over the Weston store

Snorzac

The store will be opening early in the New Year (possibly even December) and will be located next to the servo at Gold Creek.

I have decided that I will be taking the opportunity to become a crew trainer and plan on moving to the new store when it opens.

December 17  ;)

Snorzac

Not what my boss (the owner of the store) is saying...

blackdragon

Is he responsible for the new one being built and Majura Park too?

Snorzac

no, I think the Majura Park one will be owned by Joe (the old owner of Belconnen, Charnwood, Food Court and Gunners).

heh, i stand corrected :) spoke with hani today and the expected opening has in fact been pushed back (again!)

and didn't joe retire after he sold his stores? I'm fairly sure the majura one will be run by one of the southside licensees whose name escapes me at the moment.

I suspect this date has been pushed further into 2011? I say that as it is still a piece of dirt.

Since the only McDonald's owner is the one out at Conder, could he be the one running it?

24th February is the new scheduled opening date. Signs have gone up in the existing stores asking for EOI's of staff that want to transfer.

There are 5 licencees in Canberra?
But yeh, Craig who owns/operates Conder, Woden, Fyshwick and Manuka will indeed have Majura as well.

Snorzac

Do you have some form of involvement with Maccas currently/were you at lake today doing some form of tour with our management?

I have put forward my interest to transfer.

New Menu Options from the 28th:
Breakfast: Three Varieties of Bagels will become availiable
Grand Chicken Burger: Pretty much a chicken deluxe with Onion relish
Chicken Deluxe: will now have an avocado sauce
Angus the Great: Mayo, swiss cheese, mushrooms and angus beef

The advertising for this range has been shot at Belco and Charnwood (well the crew things have been anyway).

Sir Pompously

What they really need is the Chicken Club. It is really, really good. Good to see Bagels entering the menu, Grand Chicken sounds yuck with relish (hate relish), Avocado Sauce I am not complaining about at all, and I will pass on Angus the Great.

Must be the first time those words have been spoken and not relaying the story of somebody being injured

Snorzac

lol!

also coming are 'Brownie Bits' and 'm Selection shakes'

Snorzac

and contrary to my earlier posts the first mentioned products available from March 3 the other two  from April 4. The 28th is the day they are going to start training staff for the new products, which is something they have never done before.

Busnerd

Hopefully they get the shakes america has which all have whipped cream and a cherry on top! Also that mushroom angus thing they sold in the US, it looked gross...and good to have bagles back AGAIN, lets hope they stay this time...

Snorzac

The only new menu item that is staying is the 'Grand Chicken'. The NYC Bagel is quite nice, that is the only new menu item I have tried.

Snorzac

Revised opening date is now April 4, the store arrived on the back of a truck last week.

I knew they were pre-fabricated! that time i saw an all white new McDonalds store and then two days later it was painted, which lead me to believe they were pre made

Snorzac

Confirmed open date is next week, Friday I am leaf to believe, Saturday will be my last shift at Lake.

Snorzac

Opened this morning, did my first shift there tonight, from an employees perspective it is great, there are a lot of things (such as cleaning the fry vats) that are now done automatically.

Gold Creek welcomes the golden arches

Released 15/04/2011

A new McDonald's restaurant providing 80 local jobs opened today at the Gold Creek Village, and Chief Minister Jon Stanhope joined the local franchisee to mark the occasion.

"This restaurant will provide jobs to around 80 employees on opening and a great opportunity for skill development, flexible employment opportunities and a foundation for employees to achieve significant milestones throughout their careers," Mr Stanhope said.

"This investment in the growing Gungahlin area will have positive flow on effects for the surrounding businesses and attractions.

"The Gold Creek Village has become a well-established business and tourist precinct in Gungahlin, providing specialised goods and services to nearby residents and visitors," Mr Stanhope said.

McDonald's is well known across Australia for not only providing local employment opportunities but also through its enormous contribution towards the fabric of society by supporting community programs, local sporting initiatives and charities like Ronald McDonald House.

"The organisation has long been recognised as an excellent employer which invests heavily in the training and development of its employees, encouraging strong work ethic, teamwork, diversity in the workplace and personal development," Mr Stanhope said.

Mr Stanhope said the ACT Government would continue to support commercial investment in the Gungahlin area, through the introduction of infrastructure, services and public places, to meet the demand required through growth.

"I congratulate Mr Hani Sidaros with the opening of the restaurant in the Gold Creek Village and for his contribution to the local community," Mr Stanhope said.

Does Mr Stanhope ever check his facts? Last I checked we have been open for the past week!

Busnerd

Perhaps 'officially' opened

Snorzac

we officially open tomorrow!

7/10.

Food was fine. What annoyed me was the four people behind the counter chatting to each other and wiping the counter rather than serving the one person who was waiting (i.e. me)

+ 1 point for the wave from the kitchen. Say what you want about Metrobus, the man knows how to make a burger.

Snorzac

LOL! There trainees of foreign descent are f&*king useless, yesterday I was tasked with training on of them and I had to start from the basics (ie. what each coin was, etc.)!!!

Snorzac

Regarding the last post bagels are staying.

A new range of menu options will be launched on Wednesday, these will include a new dinner box, the introduction of 'Mates Meals', McWings and the permanent(?) reintroduction of McBites if they aren't already back at your local store.

Busnerd

Yes the new dinner box is apparently a chicken dinner box which will have McChickens, Mcbites etc. in it.

Most stores have mcbites back already yet there is no signs advertising them except tiny signs on the drive thru, and most staff don't even know they have them back.

A few old favorites (McFeast and Shake-a-fries) coming back during August as well as a major shake-up of the desserts menu.

Busnerd

Sir Pompously

SHAKE A FRIES!!!!! HELL YES! Also, please, please, please let their be nuts on Sundaes.

Buzz Killington

Shake fries for the win. Any hints on the dessert shake up? A return of the chocolate soft serve would be great.

As opposed to nuts on sundays, a favourite past-time of Sir P.

Snorzac

The current McFlurries are going and been replaced with four new ones.

Buzz Killington

For those wondering..

DOUBLE CHOC FUDGE - with chocolate topping and chocolate fudge pieces.
CARAMEL COOKIE - with caramel topping and biscuit pieces.
STRAWBERRY CRUMBLE- with strawberry topping and biscuit pieces.
BUBBLEGUM SQUASH- with bubblegum topping and marshmallow.

Busnerd

Don't forget you can create your own using all the ingredients listed above!

Buzz Killington

The Bubblegum ones are ridiculously delicious.

A Current Affair had a little segment on during the week about McDonald's & a new drink coming to McCafe, the story can be found at http://aca.ninemsn.com.au/article/8360414/mcdonalds-university.

Snorzac

The new drink freatured (one of the four in the Blended Ice Range) is not actually a McCafe product, it has been rolled out across all Northside stores in Canberra and possibly across all of Canberra. There are two smoothies, 'Wild Berry' and 'Strawberry and Banana' along with two frappes Chocolate and Coffee.

Buzz Killington

Two more stores in the pipeline.. Kippax and East Row
