Here's an excerpt of the latest ACTION related rant on Riot ACT...

QuoteYou have now lost MY patronage. However, on the up-side, at least you will get back the 30cm2of floor-space I occupied whilst standing jam-packed in the bus aisle. Now there will be one less person that has to risk being half an hour late for work after not being picked up by the bus: one less person having to squeeze through the two-dozen smelly, sweaty and cranky people stuffed like sardines in the bus aisle: One less person that has to pay up to $3.80 for a service that is worse than I have experienced in third world countries I've visited where I paid the equivalent of$0.50AU.

Here's the suggestion I made for the Route 6 Timetable back in February 2009: I suggest you look into it in a vain attempt to justify your career (if, in deed, you care about it whatsoever)

I hate people who say that we are worse than third world, make any reference and comparison to our service and one in a third world country. There is no comparison, and you can always tell they are exaggerating.

Have you ever taken a bus in the 3rd world?

I don't know if Bangkok counts exactly but the bus I caught there a few years ago was pretty good. Airconditioned, not crowded and had a conductor.

Not sure I would really count Bangkok as third world. However Bangkok's system is not too bad from what I have heard. Their (Thailand's) rail system leaves alot to be desired, however from what I am aware. I am thinking more India, African Nations and the sort where poverty is rife and you would be one of the elite to even be able to afford the old, run down bus with bars for windows and no aircon. Maybe even East Timor, where they bought some old Sydney 0305's to work the system there, however they were too wide for the roads (But crap all over what they currently have). My gripe is the constant comparison, either it is we are a 'third world country' or 'the system is worse than in a third world country'. Sure there is some room for improvement, however I have been in Japan with one of the best transport systems in the world and had to wait a half hour for the next crowded 3 car diesel railcar to the City.

As a frequent user of the 6, I'd sure appreciate some extra services if there was capacity available but writing such a crass letter isn't the way to get what you want. There have been some rather forceful complaints about overcrowding on that service (petitions/fliers attached to each stop etc.) but I doubt these people have been on an afternoon school service on a rainy day. Now THAT'S overcrowding :P And for a section of the service that only lasts 10-15minutes with a handful of corners, standing isn't the end of the world.

The spoilt inner-north princess could certainly do with drinking a cup of cement and hardening the fuck up. Especially as riding a bike to Civic would be quicker than the bus and even walking could be done in less than an hour from O'Connor and most of Lyneham.

Apart from it's primary role as a massive porn pipe if the internet's not for pathetic whining what is it for?

The rantor has got a valid point. Route 6 provides a 30 minute frequency during peak hours yet appears to be quite well patronised.

What she fails to explain though is exactly what her journey consists of (from where to where and at what time). There could be alternatives which she may not have considered such as -- catching route 3 or 8, catching the bus in the opposite direction and then changing buses (such as 30, 31, 701 or 702 from Mouat St) or walking to Northbourne Ave.

not really, it really is just people from riotact whining like usual.

I reckon the 6 does need more services, along with another multitude of runs; 2, 5, 10, 11....etc.

ACTION should be able to provide a decent service, as a government operator, they should be in a good position to do this. I know the logistics with just adding one single run to a timetable, but I'm more than certain it's possible, by simply organising Hastus properly.

But of course, nothing will change.......they could even get worse!
