BEIJING TORCH RELAY - NOTICE TO ACTION BUS COMMUTERS
THURSDAY 24 APRIL 2008


Due to road closures ACTION bus services will be disrupted from 7:45am to 12:30pm on Thursday 24 April 2008.

Bus services will be diverted on a number of routes. ACTION encourages commuters to travel early.



Woden ? northbound bus services (across Commonwealth Avenue Bridge)
7:45am ? 12:00pm North-bound bus services will be diverted from Woden Interchange ? (left into ) Melrose Drive ? (Right into) Hindmarsh Drive ? (Right into) Tuggeranong Parkway to City West Interchange



City Interchange ? southbound bus services (across Commonwealth Avenue Bridge)
8:30am ? 12:00pm South-bound bus services will be diverted via City West Major Bus stop on Marcus Clarke Street, Civic ? near the School of Music.

9:30am- 12:00pm City Interchange will be closed - all other bus services will be diverted via ACTION?s City West Major Bus stop on Marcus Clarke Street, Civic ? near the School of Music.



Gungahlin - services travelling via Northbourne Avenue
9:30am ? 11:30am All bus services travelling via Northbourne Avenue (north and south) will be redirected to travel via Barry Drive - Belconnen Way ? Gungahlin Drive Extension.



Bus services to and from City Interchange
9:30am- 12:00pm All other bus services will be diverted via ACTION's City West Major Bus stop on Marcus Clarke Street, Civic ? near the School of Music.



BEIJING TORCH RELAY BREAKFAST - near Questacon (6:10am-8:45am)
ACTION is unable to provide any public transport service after 7:45am from this location.

 

BEIJING TORCH RELAY CONCERT ? COMMONWEALTH PARK ? STAGE 88 (10:30am-2:15pm)
ACTION is unable to provide any public transport service to Commonwealth Park between 8:00am to 12.30pm.

ACTION?s bus services will return to normal from 12:30pm.

A pat on the back for ACTION, they didn't buckle under the pressure, and they rode it out! Congrats.

Other than unavoidable late services, it flowed relatively smoothely, without major incident!

It was pretty good, there were lots of Inspectors roaming around assisting people. Then you had these halfwits waiting on London CCT swearing at ACTION. Ha, it's their fault for being so ignorant.

Yeah, but not at the Southbound Intertown stop, when I went past there around 8:45, there were the odd few (mostly bogans) that seemed pretty pissed off, or maybe they just can't read.

But yeah, City at that time was like a ghost town, amazing.....
