Sir Pompously

I noticed these problems when the signs went up.......

Quote from: Canberra Times
The much-maligned Gungahlin Drive Extension has a new problem: road signs over the Glenloch Interchange that are too small for people to read and send drivers in the wrong direction.

One of the signs also has the incorrect name of the arboretum.

Another confuses drivers travelling north at the interchange. Two different arrows point to Parkes Way and on to the airport ' one pointing left which is the correct exit and one pointing straight ahead which sends people the wrong way on to Gungahlin Drive.

The letter height on the signs is also half of what it should be for that driving environment where there are multiple lanes and speed of 80km/h. The upshot is that the signs on three gantries over the road will have to be replaced, forcing the closure of the interchange for three nights next week.

Roads ACT director Tony Gill said a local design company which produced the signs had accepted responsibility for the errors and would replace them at its cost ' expected to be between $20,000 and $30,000.

I rather like the Woden exit sign as you come from Belconnen. It shows the distance to the exit as being 500m, yet in reality it is more like 200-250m from the start of the exit and is place right before where the road starts to bend, so is pretty useless. It should be 500m from the exit and show people the fact that the turn is just after the bend.
