It was a nice 10 minute drive each way to the open day. The track inside the Arboretum was interesting, as parts of the track are still dirt a there is one small dip that the low floor bus just squeezed through (the rear only softly bumped the ground). The big help was the driver was able to do a reccy a few days before, so he was aware of where he needed to park & drive.

Festival Of The Forests is one once again on Sunday 1 April 2012. By the looks of it (as of time of posting) there will not be an ACTION Shuttle to the event this year, but that could all change. Anyway more information can be found at http://www.arboretumcanberra.org.au/festival_of_the_forests.aspx

Last year Murray's provided the coaches for the free bus tours & it is a scenic place, that'll all change once the trees grow up through.

ACTION will now provide a shuttle to the 2012 event. The only strange thing is the first bus leaves the Arboretum before the first bus leaves the City.

More information can be found at https://www.action.act.gov.au/Arboretum.html

That just take incompetence to a new level!

That timetable has to be the wrong way round. The last service is from the City, hardly going to take people somewhere they can't get back from.

I'm going to drive to the festival and get the bus into the city, haha.

Only problem with that is it is free entry to the Arboretum by bus, but a $5 entry fee when coming in by car.

By the way, the Arboretum website has the proper bus times.

This year the National Arboretum opens, a few more shuttles are running this year. Hopefully a Murray's coach doesn't bottom out this time.
Details on the numerous services can be found at https://www.action.act.gov.au/Arboretum.html

I can't read this thread without thinking of:

Hey, you got any more arboretums around here?
NO!

You can never have enough trees, especially when sucking up to the greens.

Any attendees should expect to not see an artic of these shuttles. Unless they are less likely to bottom out leaving the staging area.
As a hint, the MAN's need to be raised to get over a certain dip.

For those that haven't seen the Variable Message Signs (VMS), they are advertising these shuttles. The Gungahlin Drive VMS only advertises the Canberra Stadium & City Bus Station departures. I'll check tomorrow morning, but I suspect the Tuggeranong Parkway VMS advertises the Stromlo Forest Park & Woden Bus Station departures. Presumably the mobile VMS that hang around Commonwealth Avenue/Adelaide Avenue would advertise the Parkes departure.
