This is a Letter to the Editor from yesterday's CT (28/02/2011), someone is a bit blind in my mind:

Well Charles, I am pretty sure every arrivals hall in the country is like this...

Usually when my family greet me in Perth, they wait near the gate my plane arrives at & not where I collect my bags. Now shockingly, they can see the planes land & take off.

Yeah that depends on the airport. Here at Canberra, you are more than welcome to meet passengers at the gate between the hours of 5am and usually last departure at around 21:00. After that it is staff only through the screening point unless flights are late. Most, if not all, airport arrivals halls around the world have a blocked view of the action, and that is from jetting it around USA, Canada, NZ, Australia and Japan. So this guy is complaining about something that is standard.
