The driver who drove it last logged it for a head light and a broken desto, as these are not major issues I would lean toward it been withdrawn...

Barry Drive

814 departed B depot this afternoon being driven by its new owner.

Barry Drive

810 sighted at B depot workshops this afternoon.

Hmm, that was quite a reasonable bus to drive.

smitho

Noticed 814 was on 'Death Row' outside the Tuggeranong Workshops this afternoon.

Pity; a fair enough bus to drive.

814 left service several weeks ago. It has already been sold.

816 was sighted at the same location as 810 earlier this week. Another withdrawal? Can't imagine there'd be another reason.

Snorzac

812 and 817 are at the back of T depot with MyWay and two-way removed, looks like 818 is off to the workshops tonight as well...

Bus 400

I know that Facebook, Twitter & YouTube have "Do this everyday (i.e. a different photo a day)."
But I didn't think ACTION was going to start a "Withdraw a Renault" a day. With possibly 5 this week. Let's hope there are 30 new buses ready for next months "Enter a into revenue service a day."

*Bang the desk so hard with my fist*

Bus 400

Bus 805 (& I think it was) Bus 811 both left Woden Depot for (probably) greater experiences. However Bus 812 came to Woden Depot so that Bus 810 wouldn't feel left out.

Bus 400

More Renault's will be on their way to Perth soon.

Bus 400

For those not following ACT Bus on Twitter or Adams Coachlines on Facebook & Twitter. Buses 812,817,821 & 822 will be sent over to Perth to join the other ex-ACTION Buses at Adams.

Buses 812 & 817 leave this month, while Buses 821 & 822 leave next month.

Bus 400

Bus 817 has arrived at Woden Depot.

Bus 400

Bus 816 made its way to Woden Depot this week.

This topic has been split. Please restrict posts in this topic to discussion of Renaults WITHDRAWN FROM SERVICE.

Discussion of Renaults STILL IN SERVICE, including training buses should now use this topic.

A great read here about the engine overhaul program for the Renaults, and about those who have found new homes around Canberra

New media release (read it here) states that by 30 June 2012, 342 buses will be racked which equals 80% of the fleet. Some simple maths says that 342 is 80% of 427, but if you go with 426 the numbers all add up. Since a further 15 buses are yet to enter service, to get to 426 there will be 17 more bus withdrawals.

This also means that, unless they withdraw some Mk2s, there will only be 8 Mk1s remaining at 30 June.

Your guess is as good as mine. But they might also target Mk2s for withdrawal, so more than 8 Mk1s might remain. Also, the bike racks are not hard to remove, so having one is no guarantee that it will remain in service.

Quote from: ACTION Buses

The current bus disposal process has been fully subscribed.

ACTION thanks those who participated in the recent round of bus disposals.

The next round of bus disposals will be in late 2012.

Renault PR180.2 articulated buses will be retired from service from July 2012 and will be in the first instance offered for sale by tender.

An information update will be posted on the ACTION website in October 2012.

So should we expect a tender for new buses shortly, with the first bus due before September 2012?

Barry Drive

"Late 2012". Sounds like the tender will be finalised by October, at which point they will have a better idea of their schedule.

Of course, in ACTION-speak "Late 2012" equals about April 2013.

Buzz Killington

Found this on the legislative assembly site:

The table below shows the ACTION fleet retirement for 2010-2011 and subsequent destination for each bus.

Month Renault PR100.2 Rigid Recycle Sold Donate
July 2010 2 2
August 2010 3 2 1
September 2010
October 2010 3 2 1
November 2010 2 1 1
December 2010 1 1
January 2011 1 1
February 2011
March 2011 1 1
April 2011 1 1
May 2011
June 2011 4 1 3
Total 18 11 3 4

(Apologies for formatting - was how it appeared on their site )

To date there has not been a cost to ACTION to dispose of retired buses. Buses suitable for sale to the public are sold un-registered ex-ACTION depot.

Buses not suitable for sale to the public are first stripped of parts of value to ACTION by ACTION staff, the buses are then transported to the SIMS Sydney recycling centre, the only facility close to Canberra capable of taking delivery of a vehicle this size. There is a transportation cost of $1,500 per bus, however after the value of the recyclable materials are taken into account, ACTION currently nets around $350 per bus.

A small number of buses not suitable for sale to the public have been donated to the Fire Brigade, Australian Federal Police and the Australian Defence Forces for specialist emergency training purposes. These entities either retrieve the vehicle at their expense, or if interstate and for local destinations, the entities utilise ACTION Towing Services, at the current commercial towing rate.

804 on Tuggy bricks since last week (at least) - smashed windows, partly stripped inside...very sad state.

New tweet from @ACTIONbuses states that 428 buses are currently in service. That's 2 fewer than the ACT Bus count of 430.

Which suggests there have been 2 more Renault withdrawals - 821 & 822 possibly. Any information would be useful - but if you've seen either in service in the last week, please post it in the "Renaults in service" topic.

Bus 400

Buses 812 & 817 left Woden Depot this week.

944?

smitho

Noticed 2 x Renaults parked 'wrong way round' on T Bricks yesterday, mid afternoon.; did a quick check of inside, and they were still 'complete'

...so they may have been placed that way simply as 'concession buses'...ie buses which can be put back into traffic to cover short term shortages pending return to workshops for repairs/maintenance.

...sorry, don't have the numbers.

Bus 400

Bus 816 left Woden Depot either today or yesterday.

smitho

Saw 804 on Athllon Dv, Greenway yesterday....on the back of a truck.

Barry Drive

846 & 847 now at back of B depot, ticket equipment removed.

Buzz Killington

818 is now parked where 781/783 were at Tuggeranong when they were trainers. 783 is over between the sheds and workshops.

smitho

This morning, saw stored Tuggy bus, 871, leaving Woden Depot (just like the old days!!) and heading off northwards, possibly Belconnen bound??

Maybe sanity has prevailed and someone has decided to swap it for an unracked B depot Mk1 (849?).

Bus 400

Buses 846 & 847 now sit unregistered at Woden Depot.

Bus 400

Bus 846 has left Woden Depot.
Bus 822 now sits with Bus 847 at Woden.

Barry Drive

847 no longer at Woden Depot. 821 has joined 822 - awaiting collection by Adams. 810 is also there, unregistered.

smitho

Former training bus, 783, remains on the Bricks @ Tugg Depot, but is now partially stripped of cab items, passenger seats, front externals and the like.....a fairly short-lived training bus.

There haven't been any buses occupying the 'training bus stands' near the workshop of late.

(Latest driver recruits to graduate entered traffic last week, including two young ladies, one now based at each depot).

Barry Drive

821 and 822 appear to have left Woden Depot in the last week.

smitho

Noticed 850 on the road today; would this be the oldest Mark 1 in revenue service now?

Ah Ha!

Will keep an eye out for it.

814 is now privately registered as a motor home ( Maroon and black in colour) and resides in the Belconnen area.

Buzz Killington

Maroon and black sounds like an interesting combo. Any chance you could share a photo?

837 went past my place yesterday.

Reminds me of the old downtowner tram buses. looks a bit wierd though.

I like the front door conversion work. Was that a difficult job to do?

Colour is very 980-like when it was new.
