Bus 400

FORDE
B. A local bus route will be accommodated through the suburb via the local centre and
areas of higher density.
6.12 Public Transport
Overall there is potential for good public transport services to and from Crace. The Crace
Concept Plan makes provision for a central bus route through the suburb, generally meeting the
400m walking distance criteria for over 95% of all housing in the suburb. See Figure 3.
The proposed bus routes through Crace would provide an efficient service via a relatively direct
route through the suburb and would directly link to the commercial and community facilities at
the Local Centre.

BONNER
C. The location of a local centre and associated higher density residential areas are
placed at the intersection of the collector road system and bus routes to maximise
exposure and encourage higher public transport usage.
D. Opportunities are to be provided for small-scale community facility sites in open space
in convenient locations predominantly along public transport routes.
5 Bus Route
Various bus routes are possible linking all of Bonner's precincts
as well as the north and south precincts of Forde with the local
centre and school.
Public Transport
Bus routes are intended to use the Boulevard and Collector roads. Actual bus routes and the location of bus
stops will be determined by ACTION. Possible routes are illustrated in Figure 2.3.8. The proposed routes
should: -
• Provide a service for school children in Forde to access their school in Bonner.
• Be within 400 metres of most residents.
• Provide access to the local centre, the Amaroo Group Centre and commuter routes to Gungahlin Town
Centre and Civic.
• Provide for easy movement of buses through incorporation of a 12.5 metre turning radius at all
intersections along possible bus routes.

JACKA
D. Local bus routes to be provided through the suburb, encouraging public transport use.
G. Opportunities are to be provided for small-scale community facility sites generally
located in open space in convenient locations predominantly along public transport
routes.
4.12.5 Public Transport
Bus routes are intended to use the Distributor and Collector roads. Actual bus routes and the location of
bus stops will be determined by ACTION. The proposed routes should:
• Be within 400 metres of most residents.
• Provide access to the local centre, the Amaroo Group Centre and commuter routes to
Gungahlin Town Centre and Civic.
• Provide for easy movement of buses through incorporation of a 12.5 metre turning radius at all
intersections along possible bus routes.

MONCREIFF
A. A group centre and higher density housing at the intersection of Horse Park and
Mirrabei Drives shall be developed, in layout and design, on the principles of an 'urban
village', closely aligned towards public transport use. Each of the intersecting roads
shall be designed as urban boulevards, with at-grade pedestrian crossings. The
precinct shall be integrated with the major open space system, directly to the north.
D. Local bus routes are to be provided through the suburb, encouraging public transport
usage.
5.6 Public Transport and Inter-town Public Transport Route
Local bus routes are to be provided through the suburb and along Horse Park Drive to encourage
public transport usage. Actual bus routes and the location of bus stops will be determined by
ACTION at the appropriate time to ensure at least 90% of dwellings will be within 400 metres of a
bus stop.
Provision shall be made to accommodate the Inter-town Public Transport (IPT) route along
Mirrabei Drive (from the town centre) to Horse Park Drive. A terminus is to be located at the
commercial/community precinct.

TAYLOR
E. Local bus routes are to be provided through the suburb, encouraging public transport
usage.

CASEY
D. A local bus route is to be provided through the suburb via the local and group centres
and areas of higher density.
E. Opportunities are to be provided for small-scale community facility sites in open space
in convenient locations predominantly along public transport routes.
1. A possible road connection to the Kinlyside Valley is to be identified to the north of the
suburb.
F. Opportunities are to be provided for small-scale community facility sites in open space
in convenient locations predominantly along public transport routes.
5. An Inter-town Public Transport (IPT) route is to be provided along Mirrabei Drive with a
terminus to be located at the group centre.
6. Roads are to be designed as boulevards.
A central collector road running north-south parallel to Horse Park Drive. This would also
serve as a bus-capable route and is located to enable nearly all housing to be located within
400m of the bus route. This road reservation should be 27m wide, and include footpaths and
street planting on both sides. The road width and projected traffic flows would generally
permit direct access/egress to residential properties.
2.8.7 Public Transport
The Casey Concept Plan makes provision for a central bus route through the suburb,
generally meeting the 400m walking distance criteria for over 95% of all housing in the
suburb. Figure 13 refers.
The proposed bus routes through Casey would provide an efficient service via a relatively
direct route through the suburb, with a high percentage of all dwellings being located within
400m of a bus stop, and would directly link to the commercial and community facilities at the
Group Centre and Local Centre.
