The Featured Bus for May 2012 is Bus 982 – a Renault PR100.2 (Mk2) bus

Bus 982 is a Renault PR100.2 Mk2 and the last of the 258 Renault PR100.2 buses delivered to ACTION over a six year period from 1987 to 1993.

Arriving on 24 June 1993 (the same day as the final Renault PR180.2 articulated bus [Bus 989] arrived), the bus is perhaps best recognised from its two Aboriginal liveries.

Its first special livery was hand-painted on to the bus when new by local Aboriginal artists; this livery lasted until early 2008, when it was repainted into a plain brown livery following accident damage.

In July 2008, together with Bus 990, it received a new livery celebrating Aboriginal Reconciliation. As with the previous livery, the new art works for the two buses were designed by local Aboriginal artists.

Unfortunately lightning struck twice and in October 2010 an accident caused structural damage to the rear near-side of the bus. Subsequent repair work required the removal of the special livery, which was on a vinyl wrap.

It returned to service in March 2011 in full corporate (orange and blue) livery.
