Bus 872 promoting Network 98

Network 98 saw a massive change for Canberra’s bus service. All route numbers were changed, including many school bus numbers which previously used two digit numbers (example: 35). The old intertown service 333 was dumped in favour of the intertown services (visit our intertown page for more). The theme for the laumch of Network 98 was “Discover the Pluses of Buses” with many buses advertising this, with Bus 872 National Film and Sound Archive AOA being replaced with a “Discover the Pluses of Buses” AOA. Network 1988

Network 88, introduced in July 1988, featured many changes across the board. Area services much like 2006’s Flexibus were scrapped and fixed services returned. Routes were added, changed, deleted and renumbered. There were extra services for late night shopping, and a number of sightseeing services that traveled to destinations further out of the city. In 1988 Gungahlin was yet to be settled and as such there are no services out there at this time. Southern Tuggeranong suburbs of Theodore, Bonython, Gordon, Conder and Banks were also yet to be developed. (more…)
