The results of a community survey show 70% of the Canberra community want the existing Nightrider bus service model to remain.
Nearly 2,000 requests a day are being made for live bus data via the NXTBUS SMS and web services, with over 80,000 requests being made since launch in early August
With the introduction of paid parking in the Parliamentary Triangle on Wednesday 1 October, Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Shane Rattenbury, has encouraged public servants in the area to try out ACTION services.

Bus 870 is a Renault PR100.2 bus with body by Ansair, Tullamarine.
Built in July 1990, it was the first “Mk2″ body PR100.2. The Mk2 body featured several differences from the Mk1 body including STC Cannon (Alcatel) flip-dot destination signs, orange over blue livery and relocated luggage rack (allowing for 43 seats). It was also the first bus to be delivered with a driver’s AM/FM radio fitted.
Bus 870 commenced service at Tuggeranong Depot in August 1990, but it is currently based at Belconnen Depot.

Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Shane Rattenbury, today officially launched NXTBUS – ACTION’s real time information online system at the opening of a new ACTION Information Centre at the City Bus Station.
“From today, ACTION passengers can access NXTBUS real time bus service information online,” Mr Rattenbury said.
“NXTBUS makes finding out when the next bus departs from your chosen location easier. Passengers can look up bus departure times by bus stop ID, route or location and get live results for the next 90 minutes.
“With Network 14 set to come in from 1 September bringing an increase in bus services, NXTBUS will provide a convenient tool for passengers to familiarise themselves with their new network.
“ACTION customers can access NXTBUS from the ACTION website or via its direct URL which is action.act.gov.au/NXTBUS. This real time passenger information can now be accessed from mobiles phones, laptops, tablets or computers.

ACTION would like to acknowledge that there is no law in place to prevent a person from collecting photographs or video in public areas. However, ACTION’s operational staff have special responsibilities to maintain a high degree of diligence and to investigate suspicious incidents such as a person taking photographs or videos.
ACTION employees are advised to enquire after the reason for collecting photos. If the activities of the person collecting the photos are causing, or likely to cause a safety issue, nuisance, annoyance or unacceptable invasion of privacy to other people they will be requested to cease collecting photos or video.
