January

  • Real time information available through mobile apps
  • ACTION provides free rides for Lanyon Valley residents due to road closure

February

  • Bridge near Platform 14 at Woden Bus Station demolished
  • 12-16 – City Bus Station closed for Multicultural Festival – services relocated to Northbourne Avenue and Alinga and Marcus Clarke Streets
  • 14 – Special Nightrider services operate for Multicultural festival
  • Large AdShel bus stop opens on College Street (University of Canberra)
  • New buses in service: 878 (was trainer), 562; buses withdrawn: 140, 855, 856, 864
  • Fleet count 28 February: 421

March

  • 11 – Bus routes diverted due to closure of Hospital Road
  • New buses in service: 563, 564; buses withdrawn: 865, 866
  • Fleet count 31 March: 421

April

  • Services on 27 April operate to Saturday timetable due to ACT Government public holiday, but no fares apply
  • Minister Rattenbury announces 14.5m and articulated buses to be fitted with bike racks
  • Bus 852 withdrawn – the last of the blue-over-orange livery
  • New buses in service: 565, 566; buses withdrawn: 126, 852
  • Fleet count 30 April: 421

May

  • Management changes in ACT Government Public Transport
  • 5 – Bus 388 attended to by ACT Fire Brigade on Caswell Drive
  • Route 202 to go cashless in new network
  • 18 – Network 15 commences

  • NXTBUS passenger information displays installed at Barton
  • Bus stop on Antill Street, Dickson closed due to intersection upgrade works
  • Bus 853 – the last Mk1 Renault PR100.2 is withdrawn
  • New buses in service: 575, 576, 577; buses withdrawn: 127, 853, 875, 876, 882

August

  • Work commences on Erindale bus stop refurbishment – stops relocated on Comrie Street
  • Preliminary work at Woden Bus Station commences
  • 20 – Bus 300 suffers major engine fire in Spence; subsequently withdrawn
  • Buses withdrawn: 872, 300
  • Fleet count: 31 August: 420

September

  • New timetables to commence in October announced
  • Upcoming weekday timetable changes scrapped; weekend changes to still go ahead
  • Former ACTION Bus 132 commences operating for Canberra Explorer

October

  • 12 – Temporary diversions at Gungahlin commence due to closure of Hibberson Street
  • 17 – New weekend timetable commences
  • Fitting of Wi-Fi to five trial buses commences
  • Parkes Way tunnel incident results in diversion of several bus routes
  • Announcement of Transport Canberra – combined ACT Public Transport agency to commence 1 July 2016
  • New buses in service: 579, 580, 581; buses withdrawn: 128, 878, 886
  • Fleet count 31 October: 420

November

  • Consultation commences for new Gungahlin Bus Station
  • Consultation commences for smoking bans at bus stops
  • ACTION operates shuttles during IKEA’s opening week
  • Thirty additional spaces added to Tuggeranong Park & Ride
  • Performance statistics released onto ACTION website
  • 30 – Work begins on Woden Bus Station renovations – platform changes occur
  • New buses in service: 582, 583, 584, 585, 586; buses withdrawn: 880, 887, 888, 889

  • 7 – Hibberson Street, Gungahlin re-opens to traffic – temporary bus station on Gozzard Street closes
  • 8 – Upgraded Erindale bus stops open
  • CBRfree Wi-Fi trial commences on Buses 579 – 583
  • Annual fare increases announced
  • Electrical repairs causes platform relocations at Woden Bus Station
  • Scania demonstrator delivered to Belconnen Depot
  • New buses in service: 587; buses withdrawn: 893, 899
